Un tramo de la autopista Eastex, en el noreste de Houston, ahora lleva el nombre de Darren Almendarez, un agente fallecido del Condado de Harris.
El representante estatal Armando Walle y la senadora estatal Carol Alvarado ofrecieron una ceremonia para develar el nuevo letrero del Departamento de Transporte de Texas (TxDOT) que designa el tramo de la Carretera Federal 59 entre Little York y Beltway 8 como Carretera Conmemorativa del Agente del Sheriff Darren Almendarez.
El agente Almendarez sirvió en la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Harris durante 23 años y estuvo asignado al Grupo de Trabajo contra el Robo de Autos. Murió en acto de servicio el 31 de marzo de 2022.
